Why I Joined the Refresher Training
As a trainer, I constantly seek opportunities to improve my skills and teaching approaches. When I was selected to attend the 5-day Trainer Refreshment Training organized by the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), I saw it as an excellent opportunity to refine my instructional techniques and update myself with the latest standards in training and assessment. I was also eager to connect with trainers from across the country and learn from their experiences.

Training Structure and Content
The training focused on the essential elements of Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) at Level-4. Sessions were conducted every day from 9:00 AM to 1:30–2:00 PM at the 10th floor of the NSDA Headquarters in Dhaka. Each day brought in new facilitators who led discussions and activities on modern teaching methods, training design, and NSDA’s ongoing mission and future vision.
One minor issue we faced was the screen used for presentations, which was not very clear. Despite that, all other arrangements were satisfactory and well-organized.
Key Learnings
Some of the most valuable concepts I learned during the training included:
- The difference between equality and equity in educational settings
- The importance of making reasonable adjustments for learners with different needs
- Detailed insights into NSDA’s long-term goals and national strategy for skills development
- Practical methods for developing effective training delivery plans
One of the sessions that stood out to me focused on how to design engaging and inclusive lessons using CBT&A principles. It helped me think critically about how to improve my own sessions back at my TTC.
My Experience as a Participant
The training was attended by 50 trainers from various institutions across Bangladesh. I personally found it to be a wonderful opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and build relationships with other professionals in the field. The diverse group made every discussion richer and more practical.
After training sessions, I also took the chance to explore different parts of Dhaka city, which made the overall experience enjoyable and memorable.
Recognition and Support
At the conclusion of the training:
- Participants from outside Dhaka received Tk. 10,000 along with a participation certificate
- Participants residing within Dhaka received Tk. 8,200 with a certificate
Each day, breakfast and tea were provided. While lunch was arranged only on the final day, participants managed accommodation and other meals at their own expense.
Future Plans and Application
This training has motivated me to improve my class delivery, plan more effectively, and adapt my teaching style based on learner needs. I also intend to explore and share ideas like the “Trainer Digital Footprint Initiative,” which encourages trainers to maintain personal digital portfolios to showcase their teaching progress, feedback, and development journey.
Such tools can be low-cost yet impactful in promoting a culture of continuous improvement among trainers.
Final Thoughts
I am thankful to NSDA for organizing this well-structured and timely training program. It not only helped me refresh my technical knowledge but also gave me the confidence and inspiration to innovate in my training practice.
I strongly recommend other trainers to participate in such programs whenever they get the chance. This kind of training helps us align with national standards, share best practices, and ultimately become more effective educators.
